Ford CEO Alan Mulally says he has not told the company's board when he plans to retire.
In an interview Tuesday on CNBC, Mulally says there's no reason to give a date because he's committed to serving at Ford.
Board members discussed a succession plan last week but no decision was announced.
Many in the company expect Americas President Mark Fields to be named Chief Operating Officer as he prepares to take over for Mulally.
The 67-year-old Mulally says he discusses succession regularly with the board but gave no details.
He told The Associated Press in an interview Tuesday that he plans to be around for a while.
Mulally is credited with saving Ford from bankruptcy and restoring it to profitability.
He was hired away from Boeing in 2006.
