After nearly two weeks, the jury is taking final shape in the corruption trial of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.
Federal Judge Nancy Edmunds summoned more than 60 candidates to court Wednesday. The goal is to pick 12 jurors and six alternates before the trial's opening statements Friday.
Prosecutors in the first round used some of their challenges to dismiss two black women. Defense attorneys objected, but the judge says the women revealed some hostility toward prosecutors in earlier interviews.
Race has been a sensitive issue during jury selection. Critics say juries in Detroit federal court don't always reflect the racial makeup of the Detroit area.
Three of the four defendants — Kilpatrick, his father Bernard Kilpatrick and Bobby Ferguson — are black.
