We're following breaking news from Detroit's west side where a 19-year-old woman is dead after being shot. It happened near McNichols and Southfield Fwy. on Oakfield.
Police say a man shot a couple while they were sitting inside a car and then set the vehicle on fire. The car, a green Ford Contour, has no license plate or VIN number on it.
Witnesses say around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning they saw a man leaning inside the car firing shots at a woman and 21-year-old man inside the car. The woman, in the passenger seat, was killed. The gunman then shot the driver in the face. Then, took a gas can and starting pouring gasoline on the car. The wounded driver got out the car and started running. The gunman chased him, pouring gasoline on the victim. The victim was able to get away and is in the hospital.
At this time, the victims are unknown.
The gunman is on the loose.
